Day 18- Captain America

Hey- I'm back from the KC show (we drove. So it seems like we were gone for a hundred years.) I'm headed up to WonderCon this weekend but I'll try not to miss a day. This time I'll be around computers.


The request for this one was actually, "A wacky Liefeld-esque CapAmerica" but, as most of my nerd friends know, I sort-of really like Rob Liefeld. Especially early Rob on Hawk and Dove and the real early New Mutants-- McFarlane inked Liefeld was my jam back in the day. Anyway, I couldn't in good conscience fuck on the guy as it's so in-vogue to do these days so here's Liefeld's Cap in my style-- Which is kind of 'wacky', I guess.

Week 3 kicks off with some Planetary sketches. Hoping they get that final tpb out soon- I saw the HC at the shop last week and almost grabbed it.

Think I went too blue with this background, should've stayed monochromatic. Oh well- this is how we learn. That's why we fall down, Master Bruces.

This took way too long on a already too short day (it's almost 6?! Oh god!) I picked her because I figured she'd be super fast.

I love the New Mutants.

Bill Sienkiewicz' run on the book changed my life. I loved Bob McLeod on the book and Brett Blevins and Art Adams and Rob Liefeld. And yet somehow, I think this is the first time I've ever drawn this guy.

Hopefully there's another request for him on the list- I want to do it again.

So on the request for this one it says, "Red Suit Spider-Man." I'm assuming he means this one because-- if you wanted the other Red Suit Spider-man, you'd just say Spider-Man. Right?

Decided to go classic costume on this one rather than the new-latexy-shiny costume.

Here's this one. Nice to get to draw a dude (Although yesterday's Wonderwoman was pretty manly- whoops!) -- I got a lot of requests for women and I always like to have some variety. Plus it's Mario! Star of the only video games I ever really gave a shit about.

Day 1- Black Canary

Hey everybody- New blog. Same old mission. New tactic.

I'm forcing myself to get through these cards no matter how much other work I have. My foolish idea up until now has been to wait until I have a break in my schedule and then bang all of these sketches out in a row. Good/bad news is, I can't see a break in my schedule anytime soon. So I'm taking a different approach. To everyone waiting for their art- Thanks for your patience (or if you've run out of patience- thanks for not tracking me down and kicking my ass yet.)
